Within the world of Shibari, there are two main types of chest harnesses:
Most chest harnesses that restrain can be subdivided into two categories:
If you have been following our lessons in order, you will observe that we have been gradually moving towards greater restraint in our ties. This is not necessarily because ties that restrain more are more difficult to tie but rather because the demand on the person being tied increases. The psychological benefits of restraint cannot be denied and the bliss and peace achieved are the greatest of rewards. That said, there is a physical toll demanded in exchange. It can take a while before the person being tied understands their body enough to comfortably wear immobilizing ties or remain static in a certain position for long periods of time. It's important to remember that there are two sides to a Shibari session: the side that ties and the side that is tied, and both of them require practice and expertise.
This is why we first go over chest harnesses that only restrain the hands. My recommendation is that you increase the restraint of your ties gradually, making it a topic of conversation between the two of you. This Half-Diamond Chest Harness is a fantastic introduction to the first subcategory of chest harnesses that restrain. Easy to tie, easy to untie, simple, and beautiful.
Have fun tying!
