Basic Chest Harness

Eve's notes about the Basic Chest Harness

You have finally reached chest harnesses!

In my case, getting to tie a chest harness was what got me interested in Shibari in the first place. I'm not entirely sure what it is about these harnesses that attracted my attention. Maybe it was creating wearable art, maybe it was the sensuality around them, or maybe it was because there are so many of them I would never get bored.

There are two main types of chest harnesses in Shibari:

  1. Ones that restrain the arms and wrists

  2. Ones that don't

I recommend you begin without any restraining, mostly because tying a chest harness that restrains the arms can be uncomfortable after a while for the person being tied. A chest harness without any immobilizing features is basically a very sexy fashion accessory.

The basic chest harness introduces a couple of important concepts for tying chest harnesses in general:

  1. Use a lark's head knot to wrap your partner's chest twice to form two parallel lines, one above and one below the breasts. These parallel lines will allow you to accentuate the breasts and provide the structure necessary for you to weave the rope in decorative patterns.

  2. Change the rope's direction to go over your partner's shoulders. This creates a line perpendicular to the ones around the chest. You'll use this new direction, combined with the structure from the first step, to start a pattern. The Basic Chest Harness is your introduction to the simplest patterns.

Welcome to the world of chest harnesses! Your journey is just getting started.

Have fun tying!
