Prusik Head Double Column Tie

Eve's notes about the Prusik Head Double Column Tie

The prusik knot has found its way into yet another application in Shibari: The Prusik Head Double Column Tie. This time, it provides the mechanism for easy-to-adjust cuffs.

As you may remember, the prusik head has the special characteristic of behaving like a slip knot when the rope is slack and locking when the rope is under tension. When used to create a double column tie, it allows the person tying to prepare the cuffs before the session and adjust them to the desired size at a moment's notice.

That said, unlike the basic double column tie and the lark's head double column tie, these cuffs have only a single strand of rope going around the wrists. This makes the cuffs more uncomfortable for the person being tied and care must be had to avoid potential injury in the wrists.

To be honest, I wouldn't recommend using these cuffs for a Shibari session. However, it's important for any serious Shibari practitioner to understand the different uses of the prusik knot and to be aware of all the tools available to aid them in their creative exploration of the wonderful world of Shibari.

Have fun tying!
