Time to tie: 3 - 4 minutes
Rope used: One 15 ft rope

A double column refers to, quite literally, any two columns. These columns could be two wrists, two ankles, a wrist and an ankle, a wrist and a bedpost, etc. There are plenty of ways to go around tying two columns. In this case, we go over how to do so by using the lark's head knot.
The lark's head double column tie is not as intuitive to tie as the basic double column tie and requires a slightly higher level of expertise to make sure that it is tied correctly and that the person being tied is comfortable.
That being said, it is a great tie to explore how loops and tension (or in this case reversing tension) are used to create comfortable and secure ties.
I encourage you to practice this tie on yourself by using your ankles as double columns. This will allow you to get a feel for how tight the cuffs should be tied so you are able to pass the ropes under them (you will understand this once you have seen the lesson).
Remember that as a general safety precaution, all cuffs should be loose enough for you to be able to insert two fingers under them.
Have fun tying!
