Arms Behind Head

Eve's notes about the Arms Behind Head

As its name clearly states, the Arms Behind Head Tie restrains both arms behind the head. Begin by tying a double column tie around your partner's wrists. Then proceed to place the wrists behind their head and use the remaining rope to keep that position in place.

While this is a very easy tie to tie, the position in which the person being tied is restrained in can become quite uncomfortable after some time. To reduce the discomfort:

  1. Make sure the person being tied stretches before the session.
  2. Help the person being tied relax their muscles during the session by creating a calm atmosphere and asking them to take deep breaths. Every time they exhale, ask them to relax further and loosen their muscles.
  3. Discuss flexibility workouts which your partner can do in their free time to improve their range of motion. (It won't hurt for you to do those workouts as well. Your body will thank you.)

This tie can be particularly uncomfortable for people who go to the gym and work on their arm and back muscles. Increasing muscle volume and density can come at the cost of flexibility. So don't forget to stretch after every workout!

Working on flexibility is not only beneficial for an enjoyable Shibari session. You will see improvements in your day-to-day life and start feeling more comfortable in your body.

Have fun tying!
