Waist Harness with Cuffs

Eve's notes about the Waist Harness with Cuffs

Figuring out what to do with leftover rope in a Shibari tie can be annoying. Whether you hide it under structural knots or you let it flow, this decision affects the overall aesthetics (and sometimes comfort) of your tie. However, there are certain ties that elevate the activity to an artform all on its own. For this Waist Harness with Cuffs, having leftover rope is not only encouraged, it is required.

This tie creates a waist harness with cuffs attached, functionally very similar to the Hip Cuffs with Crotch Rope tie. That said, from an artistic point of view, these ties couldn't be more different.

The Waist Harness with Cuffs makes use of a simple diamond pattern (See Diamond Shorts for a quick step-by-step guide on how to create a diamond pattern) to decorate the front of the harness. It then weaves the remaining rope in a beautiful flower pattern at the back.

This flower weave uses a single column tie tied around the waist as a starting point. Make sure that this single column is not too tight because you will be going over and under it repeatedly, causing the single column to tighten each time you pass a rope under it. If the single column tie becomes too tight, you will have to stop weaving or untie your partner altogether.

Weaving the rope to create the flower pattern takes a while. When planning this Shibari session, make sure you set enough time for tying AND untying. You don't ever want to be in a rush.

Have fun tying!
