Dragonfly Harness

Eve's notes about the Dragonfly Harness

Be prepared, this Dragonfly Harness is unlike anything else we teach, yet you will be incredibly familiar with its basic components. In fact, you have been using them your entire life..

"Bunny ears, bunny ears, playing by a tree. Criss-crossed the tree, trying to catch me..."

This rhyme is about the bunny ears technique, commonly used to tie shoelaces. In the Dragonfly Harness, these bunny ears are upscaled, they have to be large enough for your partner to be able to slip their arms through them. You will be tying around 6 (or more) bunny ears to create the back of the harness. You will then be using simple, overhand, and overhand on a bight knots to style the front.

This Dragonfly Harness is a testament of how simple components used and mixed in large enough amounts can create a tie that looks complex but is surprisingly straightforward to execute. The key here is to ensure the bunny ears are uniform in size, which guarantees symmetry and comfort in the tie.

Despite the simplicity of its components, I urge you to resist rushing through this tie.  Because the individual components are so simple, they create a unique opportunity to admire and understand them. Take your time, be mindful, and use this tie as a meditation practice, taking joy in what is both simple and functional.

Have fun tying!
