Throughout the shibari session, ensure that the person being tied is in constant communication with you. We recommend periodically asking if they're feeling okay and if they're experiencing any numbness or tingling sensations in any part of their body. If they are, it's essential to have a plan in place for addressing these concerns, such as changing a knot or loosening the ropes. Keep a pair of shears nearby in case of an emergency. We cover this in more detail in our safety lesson, which we highly recommend reviewing before starting to tie.

Another critical consideration is to never leave someone in bondage alone in a room, as they are entirely defenseless. They won't be able to do anything if anything out of the ordinary happens, so never leave someone in bondage unattended.

It's also important to be familiar with basic first aid and emergency procedures. While Shibari can be a beautiful and enjoyable experience for both parties, accidents and injuries can still occur, especially if proper safety protocols are not followed. Being prepared to handle any emergencies that may arise, such as a rope becoming too tight and restricting circulation, or a partner experiencing a panic attack or other medical issue, can help prevent serious injuries and ensure the safety and well-being of both parties involved. Knowing basic first aid and having a plan for emergencies can make all the difference.

Finally, it's crucial to remember that the Shibari scene isn't over until the person being tied is completely untied. Rope bondage can be emotionally draining for both you and your partner, so it's important to go through the process together.
