Lark's Head Single Column Tie

Eve's notes about the Lark's Head Single Column Tie

The Lark's Head Single Column tie uses the famous Lark's Head Knot as a starting point. Single Column Ties, as their name clearly states, tie a cuff around a single column of your choice. These columns could be anything from a bedpost or chair, to an arm or a leg.

The Lark's Head Single Column Tie specifically, is a great second tie to learn (if you haven't already mastered the Basic Single Column Tie, go back to our previous lesson) because it incorporates a knot you have already practiced (The Lark's Head Knot) to create a tie that is more visually appealing and comfortable than the Basic Single Column Tie. Congratulations, you have now graduated to level 2 of your Shibari journey.

When tying a single column tie, it's important to remember to make sure you can stick two fingers under the cuff to make sure that it is not too tight. This will also allow the cuff to slide past the pressure points in the wrist safely to the top of the hand. Check out our Knot Tightness and Position lesson before you begin tying yourself and others to prevent any accidents from ruining the fun.

Have fun tying!
